This member of the Euphorbiaceae family was given this name by Thomas Haevermans and Wilbert Leonard Anna Hetterscheid in 2021 after its discoverer Jürgen Spannring. It is found in the central Madagascar. The caudex can grow to six centimetres in diameter, the entire plant to 20 centimetres in height.
